September 2025 – E-Fueling the Delivery Trucks

September 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Driving an EV is a no brainer for many of us. Charging at home is so effortless that we soon forget the hassle and smells of using a gas station. But what about all those trucks that keep all the goods flowing through our economy? Oil prices can have a significant impact on UPS and Amazon delivery costs. How about the trucks that keep Costco and Walmart stocked? Expansion of distribution hubs are getting a lot of pushback because of pollution – because of both fumes and noise.

Our September presentation will be by Skycharger.  They have been building out charging for light and medium duty trucks since 2013. One of these is the Tidelands Avenue Electric Truck Hub (EHub) project. It will be a major step towards the Port meeting its 2030 goal of 100% zero-emission trucking to improve air quality and healthier portside communities. The EHub will support the replacement of dirty diesel trucks with clean electric trucks by deploying 70 fast charging stations, along with a solar array and battery storage. The EHub will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and increase opportunities in National City and other neighboring communities.

Come learn about how EHub and other projects impact you even if you don’t own a truck.
