SUMMARY:80eDays Around the World Visit
DESCRIPTION:!!  New Date and Place !! \nCome join us as Rafael de Mestre stops in San Diego on his latest EV drive around the world. \nYou think you have experienced range anxiety? Try traveling around the world in an EV! It took 127 days for Rafael to drive it in a Tesla Roadster in 2012. In 2016 he did it again in a Tesla Model S. Some of his accomplishments include: \n🏆 Winning the first EV race around the world in a STANDARD all-electric vehicle\n🏆 Being the first man to drive ALONE around the world in an electric car\n🏆 Making the FASTEST electric vehicle circumnavigation around the world ever (127 days)\n🏆 Making the LONGEST drive in a standard electric car (17\,574 miles). \nVisit 80eDays.com for more of the project’s history and future plans. \nThis latest trip started in Hamburg\, Germany. The Tesla Roadster was transported emission free over the Atlantic Ocean and the drive resumed from Ft. Lauderdale on July 4th. Along the way he has been stopping to meet with Tesla and EV groups and champion EV adoption. \nHear the Story \nCome to our joint meeting with the San Diego Tesla Club to hear Raphael share his travel insights and discuss opportunities for EV owners in the coming year. He and his team are experts in roadtrip planning and finding places to charge. We’re sure to hear some interesting stories and learn some great travel tips. \nPlease RSVP on Meetup (meetup.com/san-diego-electric-vehicle-association-meetup/events/295049300) if you plan to attend.

SUMMARY:August 2023 - Clean Cars for All
DESCRIPTION:Affordability has been a major hurdle keeping people from switching to an electric vehicle. A new program can provide you\, your neighbor\, or a friend with up to $12\,000 toward the purchase or lease of an EV.  This is in addition to tax credits and rebates. \nCome hear about the coming San Diego Clean Cars 4 All Program. Claire Lion and Felix Lopez of GRID Alternatives will explain all the details about eligible zip codes\, the income limits\, incentive amounts\, and eligibility for scrap vehicles. GRID is a non-profit organization that believes in a rapid\, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy needs to benefit everyone. \nThe next hurdle buying an EV is finding a way to charge. Claire and Felix will also talk about GRID’s program to use GIS mapping to find sites for EV chargers in underserved areas. This is especially important for new EV owners living in multi-unit housing. \nPlease RSVP on Meetup (https://www.meetup.com/san-diego-electric-vehicle-association-meetup/events/295272634/) to attend in person\nor REGISTER on Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUofuuopzgsGteu9nistw3dh6o-i1vlsMFR) to attend remotely.
